Abstract

Abstract. Dry extract of Glymnema sylvestre is characterized by hypoglycemic activity if compared with diabeton. Its extract lead to an increase in glucose absorption factor by isolated diaphragm in rats. It promoted a decrease in the rate and duration of hyperglycemia in peroral glucose tolerance test. It also increases the volumetric part of pancreatic islets, leading to a moderate hypertrophy of -endocrinocyte nuclei.
