Abstract

Abstract. The paper discusses the notion of compliance in dentistry, the influence of social and psychological factors on compliance. Traditional views of patients’ attitudes to treatment as well as new views meeting the modern requirements of medical ethics and medical law are reviewed. Issues of dentists’ professional competence in their interactions with patients are discussed.
