THE EFFECTS OF IMMUNOTHERAPY WITH POLYOXIDONIUM ON THE IMMUNE STATUS OF ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH ODONTOGENIC MAXILLOFACIAL PHLEGMON

Abstract

The effects of immunomodulating therapy with polyoxidonium on the immune system of elderly patients with odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmon has been studied. The authors have shown that the use of polyoxidonium in the treatment of odontogenic maxillofacial phlegmon allows for a progressively increasing resistance through stimulating the mechanisms of innate immunity and accelerating up-regulation of immune cytokines. The authors suggest that polyoxidonium boosts the effectiveness of treatment and reduces the length of hospital stay.
