The article describes morphological changes in the cerebral cortex neurons in a stress-induced neurodegeneration experimental model accompanied by amiloidogenesis and pharmacological treatment with phenibut. We revealed that in senior rats stress induced neurodegenerative changes in the cerebral cortex neurons resulting in protein metabolic disturbances. These disturbances are characterized by the intra- and extracellular accumulation of amyloid proteins as well as apoptotic neurons. Prophylaxis with phenibut improves microcirculation and prevents degenerative changes in the nerve cells.
