Abstract

G. intestinalis is a particularly significant pathogen for people with malnutrition, immunodeficiency, or cystic fibrosis. The traditional basis of diagnosis is identification of Giardia intestinalis trophozoites or cysts in the stool of infected patients via a stool ova and parasite examination. Immdediate medical attention is required for children with acute or chronic diarrhea, malabsorption, or any other GI tract symptoms.
