EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS AND DRUG THERAPY OF EPILEPSY IN THE VOLGOGRAD REGION FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS

Abstract

Epilepsy is the socially significant problem, the number of patients suffering from this disease is growing every year, which is confirmed by the WHO. New antiepileptic drugs with new mechanisms of action make it possible to create more effective combinations of treatment. In our work, epidemiological analysis of patients with epilepsy in the Volgograd region proved that male patients predominate over female. In etiology, the structural form of epilepsy dominates over all the others, and the disease debuts most often in the period up to 10 years. In monotherapy, more than a half are basic drugs. In combination therapy, third-generation drugs are widely used.
