HUMORAL EVIDENCE OF THE PROTECTIVE ACTION OF EPIPHYSEAL HORMONE MELATONIN IN POISONING WITH THE HEAVY METALS SALTS

Abstract

After chronic administration of complex heavy metal salts the oxidative stress with pathological changes in blood plasma was observed in the experimental animals (rats). These shifts on the contrary attenuated upon repeated injections of the main pineal hormone melatonin. As suggested melatonin may be universal natural factor for protection against different environmental toxic agents.
