Abstract

In experiments on mature rats, it was found that in the action of neuroglutam (a potential psychotropic drug with anxiolytic and antidepressant effects) in doses of 26 mg/kg (therapeutic dose) and 130 mg/kg (5-fold increase in therapeutic dose) at both a single and a long-term 6-month course of intragastric administration, in the «open field» test the effects of activation of motor behavior and decrease in anxiety prevail: an increase in locomotor, exploratory activity, an increase in the number of visits in the centre, reduction in the number of abortive acts of grooming. In the behavioral activity of rats treated with neuroglutame at a dose of 650 mg/kg (25-fold increase in the therapeutic dose), both at a single and a long 6-month course of administration, the effects of sedation prevailed: decrease of locomotor, exploratory activity and of visits to the centre, reduction in the number of acts of abortive grooming. The revealed dose-dependent effects of neuroglutam – anxiolytic one at doses of 26 and 130 mg/kg and sedative at a dose of 650 mg/kg were registered during single and long-term administration to animals, which allows to conclude that there is no development of tolerance to it in animals.
