Abstract

Urethral diverticulum (UD) – a condition, that is characterized by a bag-shaped urethral protrusion. This disease appears rarely in urological practice thus resulting in various diagnostic mistakes. Urethral diverticulum occur more frequently in women than in men, the ratio is approximately 6:1 [3]. We distinguish congenital (true) and acquired UD. The latter can be caused by abscesses, strictures, injuries and conditions after surgical treatment of hypospadias. According to localization they are classified into anterior and posterior. Posterior UD are more frequently acquired. The article describes a case of congenital anterior urethral diverticulum.
