IMMUNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF ENDOMETRIOSIS ONSET AND PROGRESSION

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of endometriosis underpins the development of new treatment options based on the identification of the main pathogenetic mechanisms of endometriosis. The article describes the effects of changes in cellular and humoral immunity on the onset and progression of endometriosis. We conclude that cellular dysfunction and altered cytokine release in patients with endometriosis are strongly associated with the progression of the disease.
