The inflammatory component of the pathogenesis of glaucoma and accelerated obliteration of the surgically created pathways of the intraocular fluid outflow is the subject of scientific discussion. The goal is to carry out an immunohistochemical study of the expression of the macrophage marker CD68 in resected scleral flaps in patients with 6 forms of primary glaucoma (congenital, juvenile, angle-closure, simple open-angle, pigmentary and pseudoexfoliative). A semi-quantitative assessment of cell infiltrates was performed. In a comparative light-optical study, pigmentary imbibition and mononuclear cell infiltration of varying intensity were found. According to a morphometric study, the most numerous cellular infiltrates were revealed in pigmentary glaucoma, the minimal one were found in congenital glaucoma. The most numerous CD68-positive cells were detected in angle-closure and pigmentary glaucoma.
CD68-macrophages, dense fibrous connective tissue, scleral flap, primary glaucoma, immunohistochemistry.
