The authors conducted a retrospective analytical study at the bases of 5 municipal dental clinics in the city of Volgograd. We studied 250 outpatient cards for children aged 6 months to 6 years (50 cards in each clinic for the period from 2016 to 2019), who were treated by pediatric dentists and orthodontists. A survey was also conducted of 100 parents of patients (20 parents in each clinic). The results showed that of the risk factors for caries and dentofacial anomalies, artificial feeding has a high negative effect. It was found that 87 % of the children in the study group from the moment of birth were breastfed, but were transferred to artificial nutrition under the age of 6 months. Of these, 19 % of the children were breastfed for no more than a month. 50 % of the children were transferred to artificial feeding at the age of 3–6 months, 18 % at the age of 6 months. In order to prevent caries, it is also necessary to refuse feeding the child with sweet dairy products.
