Abstract

The essence of the present crisis of indices of health and mortality in Russia and ways of overcoming it are described. The situation calls for decisive measures aimed at decreasing the death-rate among able-bodied men, infants and mothers, bringing down disablement and morbidity. It is important to improve diagnostics of death causes to determine the priorities in their elimination.
