Autometallographic and immunohistochemical studies to investigate reproductive toxicity of 5 and 20 nm gold nanoparticles in male albino rats were carried out. In the autometallographic study, gold nanoparticles were found only in tunica albuginea of the testis. The immunohistochemical study indicated a significant reduction in the expression of PCNA in I and II spermatocytes.
