The article analyzed the experience of treating 474 patients with spontaneous pneumothorax. Pleural puncture and drainage of the pleural cavity, removal of the affected part of the lung through toracomy, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery were used as treatment method. When indicated various methods of inducing pleurodesis to prevent pneumothorax relapses were applied. The early use of active surgical strategies makes possible to reduce the number of relapses.
