PECULIARITIES OF WEST NILE FEVER MANIFESTATIONS IN THE VOLGOGRAD REGION

Abstract

In 1999, the first major outbreak of West Nile fever (WNF) with a severe clinical course, central nervous system damage and high mortality (up to 10 %) was registered in the Volgograd region. The experience of studying etiology, epidemiology, clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment of West Nile fever was gained by the Volgograd experts over the period. The article presents an epidemiological analysis of the WNF incidence from 1999 to 2018. The peculiarities of the clinical course in the residents of the Volgograd region during the epidemic season of 2018 were studied in comparison with previous years.
